Profile

I am currently a Research Scientist within the Biodiversity Conservation Group based at Woodvale. My main area of research has centred on conducting regional vegetation and flora surveys. These aim to document the flora and provide assessment of the conservation status of plant species and communities.

Botanical surveys to date include the coastal areas of the south coast, Swan Coastal Plain, Carnarvon Basin, Goldfields ranges and currently wetlands of the Wheatbelt as part of the Salinity Action Plan.

Expertise

Regional botanical surveys.

Soil surveys and analysis.

Desktop mapping and graphics.

Brief Curriculum Vitae

I completed an honours degree in botany from University of Western Australia. My honours research examined the interaction of honeybees and native insect pollinators in the Northern Sandplains. Prior to joining CALM’s Science Division at Woodvale, I was employed by CALM’s Wheatbelt region to conduct reserve surveys and reserve management duties.

I have been involved with several major biological surveys in the south west. Currently I am undertaking a survey of the plant communities of wetlands throughout the wheatbelt. I have developed a keen interest in the flora of naturally saline wetlands and their conservation.

Current Science Projects

Salinity Action Plan - Floristic Survey as part of Biological Survey of the Wheatbelt.

Conservation Status of the Flora of the Warren Botanical Sub-district. Summary of the flora of the Warren from herbarium records and survey data, and their reservation in major categories of CALM estate.
